I just realized that whenever I abbreviate the title of this post, I always write ‘US’, without the periods.
What the fuck.
You’re supposed to use periods? I’ve been writing policy papers for years and saying “US.” I think it’s OK (see what I did there?) because everyone knows what you’re talking about. It’s rarely confused with the word “us” being typed by someone with a broken “shift” key, usually because you put “the” before it, as in “the US.”
Just found this interesting because I’d never really thought of it before. Hrm.
